Finding My Voice: From Corporate Life to Entrepreneurship

Recently, I had the pleasure of joining Anne Leatherland on the Be Truly Heard podcast, where I reflected on my journey from corporate life into entrepreneurship and how those early experiences of feeling unheard shaped the confidence I carry today, and ultimately led to the creation of Touchpoints Marketing.

Life in Corporate: Learning the Hard Way

I spent around 15 years zigzagging in and out of corporate environments. If you’ve worked in those spaces, you’ll know the feeling - you’re often just a number on a spreadsheet, regardless of how much experience, insight, or passion you bring to the table.

I always knew I had more to give than people imagined. But earlier in my career, I didn’t always trust my voice enough to fully own that and I also bit my tongue a lot when it came to discussions. Over time, and with maturity, that shifted. I’m far more confident now in my ideas, my instincts, and my ability to see the bigger picture.

How Touchpoints Marketing Began

The idea for Touchpoints Marketing came from that familiar moment of being asked, “Could you just…” - run a website, support affiliate marketing, or manage social media. That’s when I realised I had a skill that so many businesses needed.

What started as an agency grew quickly. At one point, I had a team of 4–5 people and clients all over the world. Then COVID hit and within a single week, I lost 95% of my clients.

It was brutal but it became a turning point for me.

Helping When It Mattered Most

Instead of panicking, I focused on helping.

Businesses everywhere were trying to pivot, re-think, and survive. So I started creating practical, supportive marketing content for people who needed it most. That’s when I launched the Marketing MOT course which was completely free.

Around 370 businesses went through that course.

That experience reinforced something I’ve always believed: When you help people, you build something far more meaningful than a quick win.

Sharing What I Know

Looking back, there was so much I didn’t know 10 years ago. Today, I use that hard-earned experience to help business owners and marketers avoid unnecessary complexity, second-guessing, and burnout.

That’s exactly why Six Figure Niche exists to help people grow sustainably and confidently. Also, it’s why Young Hustle Hub supports the next generation in finding their voice earlier than I did.

Being Truly Heard

On the podcast, Anne and I talked about what really changes when women start trusting their voice.

It’s about confidence, maturity, and the quiet internal shifts that make a powerful difference over time.

If any part of this resonates, if you’ve ever felt like you had to shrink your ideas to fit, know this: Your voice matters, exactly as it is.
