I wanted to share something important that recently caught my attention and honestly, it caught me completely off guard!
Vic & I were recently informed by Sarah Liddle (also known as ‘The Lady in the Shed’), pointed out that Facebook might be automatically syncing photos from your phone's camera roll and potentially using them to train its AI systems.
At first glance, this might not seem like a big deal, but when you think about what's actually stored in our camera rolls, it becomes more concerning. Personally, I have screenshots of passwords, photos of important documents, private family moments, and work-related images that I definitely don't want floating around.
When I checked my own settings, this feature was already enabled and I don't remember ever agreeing to it or getting a clear heads-up about it. It's probably worth spending a couple of minutes to check your own settings, just to be on the safe side.
Here's how to check and change your settings:
In the Facebook mobile app:
Here are some screenshots to show you:

These settings control how Facebook can access the images on your phone, so switching them off puts you back in control of what gets shared or used for AI training.
I'm really thankful to Sarah for catching this and sharing it. If you're not already following her on instagram, check out @theladyintheshed.
What about you?
Was this setting already turned on when you checked? Send me a DM on Instagram: six_figure_niche and let me know!
If this was useful, please share it with your friends and family. We all need to help each other stay informed and protected as these platforms keep changing how they handle our personal data.
